High
School Proficiency Tests
The law requires that a student meet the locally
adopted standards of
proficiency in reading, writing, and math. These
proficiency standards are a requirement for high
school graduation. The proficiency tests are
administered each year to freshman students and
all other students who have not yet passed the tests.
MCHCS will offer these tests at least one time per
year, usually during the fall semester.
High School Diploma
Students in the MCHCS Home Independent Study Program
will receive a high school diploma upon completion
of all high school graduation requirements. The
MCHCS does offer a graduation ceremony if the student
wishes to
participate.
Exit
Exam
Beginning with the graduating class of 2004, the
California State
Board of Education will require all students to
pass the California High
School Exit Exam. The exam consists of three parts:
Reading, Writing and Mathematics. MCHCS will offer
these tests in accordance with thedates mandated
by the state, probably once in the Fall and once
in
the Spring. For more information regarding this
exam you may refer to the CAHSEE
section at the California
State Department of Education website.
